Backend Software Engineer In IRess

IRESS is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join our growing team responsible for building our award-winning financial planning product – XPLAN. It’s been rated the number one financial planning software for the ninth consecutive year, being used by the majority of the Australian Financial Planning market with over 25,000 clients in Australia and New Zealand alone.

As a Backend Software Engineer in our Feature Team, you’ll be playing a vital role in building new functionality across the entire development lifecycle from inception, design, and deployment. You’ll be part of a collaborative; AGILE team passionate about developing high performance, scalable web applications.

Being part of our Sydney office, as a Backend Software Engineer, you’ll have the chance to develop your skills across our entire stack which includes Python, Javascript, CSS3, React, Angular 2, Backbone and HTML5. As we continue to grow, you’ll have the opportunity to make an impact on different projects while developing your technical or leadership skills.

We're passionate about improvement as we introduce continuous integration and continuous delivery best practices into our engineering environment. You'll work alongside talented Engineers who are passionate about keeping up to date with the latest trends and tools while having access to formal training opportunities at IRESS.

We’re recruiting for multiple roles and are open to candidates at all levels from Junior to Senior. This includes Full Stack Engineers as well as Backend Engineers. We’re open to applicants both locally and overseas and can provide sponsorship for suitable candidates.

About You

Required

Similar experience as a Software Engineer, Developer, Programmer, etc
Experience with at least one of the following - Python, C++, PHP, Java or Ruby
Strong understanding of web standards and architecture
Knowledge of relational databases and SQL
Knowledge of multi-tiered object-oriented application development
Experience in the cycle of software development, and agile methodologies
Ability to structure test code efficiently and write robust test cases

Desired

Exceptional Python and front-end development skills using modern HTML 5, CSS 3 and JS
Experience with xUnit testing frameworks and selenium testing
